Crowns and bridges are an integral part of many of the smile transformations that we have achieved at Trinity House Dental Practice. But what exactly are they?
A crown is an artificial cover or ‘cap’ used to replace missing portions of teeth.
The crown covers a tooth completely in order to restore or improve the shape, size and appearance of the tooth.
While initially used to repair a tooth that was too damaged to be restored with a filling, crowns are increasingly used in cosmetic smile design where they cover badly shaped or discoloured teeth in order to improve their appearance.
When you are missing one or more teeth, your remaining teeth can be used to support artificial teeth which are bonded in place across the gap. This is called a bridge.
While we use many types of bridge depending on each patient’s individual circumstances, we only use the best all ceramic or noble metal materials for our bridges.
We match the colour and bite of the bridge to your own teeth so that the bridge looks and feels as if it’s part of you.
